The Hideaway: A Fresh Start. Time to Heal. Room to Grow.

We are open and accepting inquiries from women seeking freedom from addiction.

The Hideaway is Zoe Freedom Center’s long-term residential recovery program for adult women in the Fredericksburg, Virginia area. We offer a structured, supportive home where women can step away from destructive patterns and focus on healing, building healthy relationships, and rebuilding their lives.

Think of it as a life sabbatical—intentional time to receive support, address the heart issues beneath addiction, and begin moving toward a life of purpose and freedom.

Cost and Length of Stay

Our residential program is provided at no cost to participants, thanks to the generosity of our donors and community partners.

The Hideaway is designed for a long-term commitment, generally 6–12 months, depending on each woman’s needs and progress. Our intake team will discuss the expected commitment and program phases with you before admission.

What Daily Life Looks Like

Life at the Hideaway combines practical support, personal responsibility, and opportunities for personal and spiritual growth. Our structured schedule includes substance use counseling, peer recovery support, life skills, shared meals and household responsibilities, creative activities, animal care, and equine connection opportunities.

You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. A willingness to receive support, participate in daily activities, and work toward change is a starting point.

Admission and Medication Review

Admission begins with a conversation and screening to determine whether the Hideaway can meet your needs. We will discuss your substance use history, physical and mental health needs, current medications, and willingness to participate in a structured residential program.

Please share all prescription and over-the-counter medications during screening so our team can discuss medication policies and determine whether we can support your needs. Do not stop or change prescribed medication to apply; discuss any medication changes with your prescribing provider.

The Hideaway is a recovery residence and does not replace medical detoxification, hospitalization, or other intensive medical or psychiatric care. If you need additional care before entering the program, we can help you explore appropriate resources.

Supporting the Connection Between Mothers and Their Children

At Zoe Freedom Center, we recognize the importance of the bond between a mother and her children. We want to support those relationships while giving each woman the time and care she needs to heal.

Although children do not reside at the Hideaway, we have specific guidelines for contact with children under the age of 18 that recognize the importance of this connection. Our intake team will discuss your family’s circumstances and explain how these guidelines apply during your stay.

Take the First Step

You do not have to navigate the next step alone. Whether you are seeking help for yourself, supporting a loved one, or making a professional referral, we welcome your questions.
